What this course will help you do

American Sign Language Made Simple gave you the foundation: fingerspelling, numbers, introductions, everyday vocabulary, and basic conversations.

Telling Time in ASL builds on that knowledge by focusing on:

  • Clock time & dates: hours, minutes, days, months, and more
  • 🕰 Tense: talking about the past, present, and future
  • 🔁 Frequency & repetition: “always,” “sometimes,” “every Monday,” "twice a year", etc.
  • 📅 Routines & schedules: describing your day, making plans, and more

Telling Time is a natural next step once you’ve learned basic conversational skills.

This is an EARLY PILOT ENROLLMENT for a course about telling time and expressing tense in American Sign Language. You can sign up today to get in at the earlybird price, in exchange for your patience and feedback as the final wrap-up course lessons become available to you. I also look forward to your honest testimonial after completing the finished course!

The only prerequisite is having taken the Beginner Foundations Course: American Sign Language Made Simple (or equivalent intro to ASL class). This Time course will build on the foundational skills and vocabulary learned in that course. In this next-level program, you'll learn to tell about when, how often, how long, and how quickly things happen.

Currently, the course includes SIX (6) modules, covering the curriculum listed below. During this pilot, I'm still just polishing up the activities, closed captions, and a final course-end review for you. I'll also consider other adjustments, based on your feedback.

What other learners have had to say:

Because it's not yet released, this course has only had a few pilot testers go through it, but so far, they're happy students:

"This course is very detailed. Meredith does well with keeping you engaged throughout the videos. I like that it doesn't jump from one subject to the next but she gives you time to comprehend what you are learning." - Bri, 31

"The clarity in which you taught, was excellent." -- Gloria, 53

"Based on the quality of Meredith's Beginner course I was confident that this new class would be just as good, and this has proven to be true. I became deaf 2 years ago and both classes have made it possible to better communicate. The telling time content fantastic because Meredith show's each sigh from all angles, and also shows alternative signs that can be used." - Jeff, 53

"I appreciate Meredith’s, teaching method. It is captivating and fun!" - Naomi, 76

"If you want to take your beginner level signing skills to the next level, you’re in the right place. Meredith does a great job of introducing very practical, useful concepts of time-based communications. By the end of the course, you’ll be communicating in complex sentences that convey multiple ideas. Her warm, encouraging teaching style is just what someone new to the world of ASL needs to stay motivated and on track!" - Dale, 67

This class is similar to the beginner course in all ways regarding lesson format and teaching style. The key difference to be aware of is that this time class does not (yet) have module-end quizzes.
